Johnny McClanahan, President/CEO

The North Central Telephone Cooperative board of directors has removed the “Interim” title and elected to name Johnny McClanahan the permanent President and CEO of the cooperative. The board has been impressed with McClanahan’s leadership and is confident that, under his guidance, NCTC will continue to work hard to provide dependable, world-class communications services. McClanahan is enthusiastic about the future of the cooperative. He said, “I am humbled by the confidence the board has placed in me with this responsibility. With all the changes in technology that have come along since I started at NCTC, I am excited to see what the future holds and welcome the challenge. One of the things that is most important to me is the people we serve, so we will continuously look for ways to benefit our customers and communities.”

McClanahan is no stranger to NCTC. With nearly 30 years’ experience at the cooperative, McClanahan brings extensive familiarity with not only the telecommunications industry, but also in finance and management as NCTC’s Vice President of Finance and Administrative Services. Additionally, he holds a BBA and MBA from Cumberland University.

A native of Macon County, Johnny and his wife, Darlene, have two children, Shana and Ryan, who also live in Lafayette. Shana is married to Tommy Hoffman, and they have a 5-year-old daughter Katalina. Along with being a devoted husband, father, and Papa, McClanahan is also an avid classic car enthusiast. He also owns a farm in Macon County and raises beef cattle.

For 67 years, NCTC has been a leader in the telecommunications industry, and McClanahan says he plans to stay at the forefront of the industry as an advocate for NCTC members. He serves on the board of directors for several organizations, including: the Tennessee Telecommunications Association as past president, secretary/treasurer of the Kentucky Telecommunications Association, Tennessee Rural Communications Cooperative Association, IRIS Networks, and Bluegrass Cellular.
