Our calling features allow our customers to maximize the use of their home telephone. Learn more about what we have available and how to use it below!
CALL WAITING
Getting more than one call at a time could be a problem if NCTC didn’t have the solution. With Call Waiting, you can pause your current conversation and answer another incoming call. A tone will notify you when another call is incoming during your conversation:
To use Call Waiting, press the ‘flash’ button on your phone (or hit the switchhook once) to take the second call. Repeat to return to your first call.
To cancel Call Waiting, before placing a call dial *70 and listen for a special tone. Make your call without having to worry about an interrupting call waiting tone – once you hang up the Call Waiting will be restored.
CALL FORWARDING
If you need to send calls to a different phone number than your home number for a certain period of time, Call Forwarding is the way to go!
To use Call Forwarding, lift the receiver and press 72# and wait for a special tone. Enter the number you want your calls to be forwarded to. When that call is answered, Call Forwarding is activated. If there is no answer or the line is busy, hang-up and repeat the steps above. If you do this within 2 minutes, you’ll hear two short tones to notify you Call Forwarding is activated.
While Call Forwarding is activated, your phone will make one short ring each time a call is forwarded.
If you forward a call to a long-distance number, you (not the caller) will be billed for the long-distance charges.
To discontinue Call Forwarding, press 73# and wait for a confirmation tone.
THREE-WAY CALLING
Sometimes you just have to add someone else to the conversation between two people – and NCTC Three-Way Calling allows you to do just that.
To use Three-Way Calling, Press the flash button or switchhook to place the first caller on hold. When you hear a special tone, enter the phone number of a third person you want to join the call. When the third person answers, you may speak privately first and then press the flash button/switchhook again and all three of you will be on the same line. If there’s no answer from the third person’s number, just press the flash/switchhook again and you’ll go back to the first caller.
To release the third person from the call, press the flash/switchhook. Hang up when you are finished speaking with the first caller.
SPEED CALLING
Save time on dialing the important numbers in your life by giving each one a Speed Dialing two digit code!
To program Speed Dialing, lift the receiver and press 75# and listen for a special tone. Enter a 2 digit code to assign to a specific telephone number. Enter the phone number you want to be Speed Dialed. (For long distance numbers, enter a ‘1’ plus the area code.) When you hear two short tones, that 2 digit Speed Dial number is activated.
To use Speed Dialing, pick up the phone and dial the 2 digit assigned number.
To change your Speed Dialing list, lift the receiver and press 75# and wait for the special tone. Enter the 2 digit number you wish to change. You will hear a cancellation tone. Repeat the ‘Program’ steps to make your change.
ANONYMOUS CALL REJECTION LIST

To activate Anonymous Call Rejection, dial *88. To allow private or anonymous calls again, simply dial *87.
WARM LINE
When you want to have an immediate contact notified when your phone is off the hook (or you suddenly find yourself unable to dial), a Warm Line feature could save the day!
To set up Warm Line, call NCTC to establish a predetermined number to be dialed (or to change an existing number).
Once Warm Line is set up, any time the receiver is off the hook for a few seconds (without dialing), the number you’ve set will be dialed automatically. For security reasons, this feature cannot be removed using a code – you will have to contact NCTC to do so.
AUTOMATIC CALL BACK
If you hate trying to dial a number over and over, only to get a busy signal – let Automatic Call Back take care of it!
To use Automatic Call Back when you get a busy signal dialing a number, hang up and life the receiver again and dial *66 and hang up. When the line is free, your phone will ring a short-short-long tone. The earlier ‘busy’ number will be dialed automatically when you pick up.
